Why am I here

Okay - so after years of avoiding doing this sort of thing I have finally given in. Or at least decided to share my point of view for anyone wanting to listen/read etc.

I am aphysiotherapist who has spent years advocating running shoes, heel wedges, to a lesser extent orthotics to my patients who have foot, ankle, achilles and calf injuries.

HOWEVER, after something of an epiphany I am starting to think maybe a lot of that is just unnecessary.

Now to borrow somewhat from the mighty Lance Armstrong: It isnt all about the .....book?
I read Born to Run by a guy called Christopher McDougall and it has re-opened my eyes to what we (humans) are capable of and what footwear does and does not do for us. I say re-open because I knew a fair amount of that which he talks about i nthe book science-wise, but it was the way he puts it into the "real" world that made me stop and listen better!

For the readers amongst you: Great story, mixed with science made interesting. A rare find. It took me three days to read, and I suspect it took THAT long because I had to go to workin between reading.

So I am going on a journey to explore the world of going barefoot and have decided to share, as so many other have (great inspiration barefoot ted, thanks!).

Maybe see you along the way
